The Phylaxis Society does not have the resources to maintain a traditional library or storage facility for its paper archives. The Society is actually struggling to find paper copies of its important records—proceedings of the annual convention, magazines, newsletters, and so forth—for its own use and for use by future researchers. The long-range goal of the Digital Archives Program is to create a digital record of all materials published by the Society—magazines, newsletters, proceedings, and the like—and to make it all available on in digital form..
The Program Director for Digital Archives will:
a. Administer all aspect of the Digital Archives program.
b. Establish a staff of officers within as necessary to complete the assigned tasks. Staff members who have computers, flatbed scanners, and a CD burner or DVD burner at their disposal are needed.
c. Seek out copies of documents important to the history of the Phylaxis Society and make digital copies of the same.
d. Obtain copies of Phylaxis magazines and make digital copies of the same.
e. Create a database that contains a record of each issue of the Phylaxis magazine and each article recording the issue, date of issue, article title, author, and synopsis.
f. Establish a cataloging system for orderly storage and easy retrieval of proceedings and other scanned documents.
g. Establish a small-scale program for duplicating and distributing archived material to persons seeking to purchase the same.
